Vacuum Hardening

Precision Vacuum Hardening for Critical Components

Vacuum hardening is a high-precision process used to increase hardness, strength, and wear resistance of a part while maintaining exceptional surface quality and dimensional accuracy.

The vacuum hardening process involves the part being heated to the required temperature in a sealed low-pressure vacuum furnace. Once temperature is reached, an inert gas is introduced for quenching to achieve the required properties. The clean and controlled vacuum atmosphere eliminates oxygen and other reactive gases, in turn preventing unwanted oxidation and decarburization. At SST, our vacuum hardening services provide precise, controlled heat treatment to deliver dependable performance in demanding applications for our customers.
