Gas Nitriding

NADCAP-Accredited Gas Nitriding Services for Aerospace & Automotive

Gas nitriding is a low‑temperature thermochemical heat treatment process that uses heat to diffuse nitrogen-rich gas onto the surface of a metal with the intention of hardening it.

This process enhances surface hardness, wear resistance, and fatigue strength without affecting the core properties of the material. The nitride hardening process integrates into the bulk material, allowing the portion of metal below the surface layer to remain soft.

Gas nitriding is a preferred process for various applications due to its low cost and post-process dimensional stability. The process causes minimal distortion on parts enabling precise dimensional control, makes components wear and corrosion resistant, and increases fatigue strength.
