Gas Carburizing
Gas Carburizing Services
Gas carburizing is a thermochemical heat treatment process used to increase surface hardness and wear resistance while maintaining a tough, ductile core.
This is done by heating components to upper critical temperatures, followed by introducing carbon-bearing gases into the furnace. These gases disassociate on the surface of the heated steel and generate carbon atoms. The carbon penetrates the steel and hardens the surface layer by increasing its carbon content.
Industrial steel needs both flexibility and strength. Case hardening with carburizing produces the extremely hard exterior and the tough interior needed for the most demanding industries.
